What the official information confirms

For a Latvia residence permit application submitted through a Latvian diplomatic mission abroad, the mission consular information page is the verbatim source for the photo size. The current regulation (MK No.564 "Uzturēšanās atļauju noteikumi" § 28.2) lists the photo among the required documents without dimensions, and the PMLP central pages publish no photo dimensions.

The Latvia Schengen visa (schengen.latvia.visa-photo, 35×45 mm) is a separate route and authority within the same country, with a different size and source; its values are not shared. Creating, printing, and submitting the photo remain the applicant's own actions (this tool prepares the print photo only and does not submit on your behalf).

• The official mission checklist requires the photo to be 30 x 40 mm (width x height) (verbatim "3 x 4 cm"). The verbatim size source is the checklist layer of the Latvian diplomatic mission; the current regulation (MK No.564 § 28.2) and the PMLP central pages publish no photo dimensions.
• One photo must be provided (verbatim "vienu krāsainu dokumentu fotogrāfiju" — one colour document photo).
• The photo must be in colour, as officially stated.
• Background, face geometry, and recency are not stated on the mission page, in the current regulation, or on the PMLP central pages, and remain unregistered in the Requirement record. Values from other requirements (such as the Schengen visa) are not carried over.
• The face image captured for the residence permit card itself (biometrijas dati at the PMLP office or the mission) is a separate layer and is not confused with the document photo the applicant prepares.

How unspecified conditions are handled

The phrase “passport-size” and general photo practice are not converted into a fixed value such as 35×45 mm. In the Tool, enter the dimensions shown by the current application guidance.
