- One photograph is required. This is doubly corroborated by Government Decree 35/2024. (II. 29.) Korm. rendelet §8(2)a ("A tartózkodási engedély iránti kérelemhez … mellékelni kell: a) egy darab igazolványképet") and the OIF factsheet: "Attaching/enclosing 1 facial photograph to/with the application is required."
- The authority publishes no photo dimensions in millimetres, no background colour, and no recency period. Neither the decree text nor the OIF factsheet (EN/HU) states them, and this page keeps them unregistered. Third-party claims such as "two 35×45 mm photos" contradict the official count of one and are not adopted.
- For paper / in-person applications, one photograph is enclosed with the application. Via Enter Hungary (EH) the face photo can be uploaded, and admission is conditioned on the fee being paid and the facial photograph, fingerprint, and signature specimen being recorded within 15 days (factsheet verbatim) — this on-site biometric recording is a separate step from the attached photograph.
What the official information confirms
The Hungary White Card is a residence permit for digital nomads administered by the OIF (National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing) and is a separate scheme and route from the existing hungary-study-visa (Tokyo embassy, 35×45 print), hungary-residence-study-extension (Enter Hungary digital), and Schengen C Hungary. This record covers only the single photo enclosed with the White Card application and inherits nothing from the existing procedures.
The enclosed photo is prepared by the applicant, while the on-site biometric recording at submission (for the biometric residence document; fingerprints for applicants over six) is captured by the authority (PREPARE ≠ SUBMIT). How unspecified conditions are handled
The phrase “passport-size” and general photo practice are not converted into a fixed value such as 35×45 mm. In the Tool, enter the dimensions shown by the current application guidance.
