Slovakia National Visa (D) photo requirements
This guide shows confirmed conditions and does not guess unspecified dimensions or file limits.
Confirmed conditions
- The official page requires "a full-face colour photograph, conform to ICAO standards, 3 x 3.5 cm" in the National visa document list. The size is 30 x 35 mm (width x height) (the official wording "3 x 3.5 cm" means 30 mm wide by 35 mm high), and the colour and full-face requirements are verbatim on the same page.
- At the central mzv.sk level, 3×3.5 cm is the document size for the National visa (Type D) and is a different value from the Schengen C common 35×45 mm. The Slovakia Schengen C route (whose size is officially unresolved) is treated as a separate route; this 30×35 mm size is not transferred to or promoted as the C-visa requirement.
- The background colour, the recency limit, and numeric face-geometry rules are not registered in the Requirement record: the page delegates the definition of "conform to ICAO standards" to a linked PDF that has not been transcribed. This page keeps them unregistered and does not fill them in by guessing.
- The photo count is not registered in the Requirement record: the document list only uses the singular "a ... photograph" with no numeric rule. The colour requirement ("colour photograph") is verbatim on the page.
What the official information confirms
The Slovakia National visa (Type D) follows the document list on the central mzv.sk National visa page and is submitted as a paper set at the mission (in-person submission). The list is jurisdiction-independent, and the same photo wording (full-face, colour, ICAO-conform, 3 x 3.5 cm) repeats across every pathway on the page. Mission-specific additions for Japan are unconfirmed and are not covered by this record.
No official digital photo upload rule exists; printing and bringing the photo remain the applicant's own actions (the tool prepares the print photo only). Separately, the Slovakia residence permit (cudzinecká polícia) abolished the photo attachment obligation in the amendment effective 2025-07-01 (on-site biometric capture); this record covers only the National visa print photo.
