How to troubleshoot a photo upload error

When an upload fails, check the file preparation steps one by one, then compare the result with the latest requirements and instructions for the target procedure. This shared guide does not define procedure-specific numbers or artifact requirements.

1. Prepare the file again

Save a fresh copy with a new name. Choose the exported submission file rather than an in-progress edit, and confirm that it opens in your device’s Photos or Files app.

After converting the file format, confirm that the converted image has the intended orientation and content. Do not change only the filename extension to disguise a format.

2. Compare the error with the file

Before dismissing the error, identify whether it refers to format, file size, image dimensions, or the type of artifact being submitted. Change only the relevant item before trying again.

If you reduce the file size, check the preview again for blur, unexpected rotation, or other changes caused by recompression.

3. Check the procedure-specific requirements

Format, file size, pixels, aspect ratio, and artifact type can differ by procedure, route, and submission channel. Check the latest official instructions and the corresponding requirements guide.

If an official requirement is unresolved or differs by route, do not fill in a number by guesswork. Check the target application screen first. A print-only procedure may have no upload-error check at all.

FAQ

Does this guide list file-size or pixel values?
No. Those values belong to the Requirement SSOT and its projection for the specific procedure, route, and submission channel.
Does this apply to a print-only submission?
If the procedure has no upload workflow, upload rejection is not applicable. Check the procedure guide for print requirements instead.

Check the guide for your procedure

For procedure-specific requirements, use the procedure page together with the official instructions.
