Guide policy
The Requirement record is the source of truth; unspecified values are not filled in.
- The official page requires the photo to be 35 x 45 mm (width x height) ("45 mm high and 35 mm wide").
- Corners may be straight or rounded with a radius of 3 mm ± 0.5 mm.
- The photo thickness must range from 0.13 mm to 0.27 mm, as officially stated.
- Both black-and-white and colour photographs are accepted (neither is the single required mode).
- The background must be white to light blue to light grey, and a smooth transition between these colours is also allowed. It is a range, not a single required colour.
- The official rules require a front face view showing the head and upper shoulders, looking straight into the camera, with a neutral expression, lips closed, and eyes open and not obscured by hair.
- The official page states numeric composition rules: at least 2 mm between the upper edge of the head and the upper edge of the photo and a face height (eyes to chin) of at least 13 mm.
- Retouching or other modifications are officially prohibited; the photo must reflect the current appearance.
- Recency and the number of photos are not stated on the official page and remain unregistered in the Requirement record.
